Upsc CDS 1 2 2025 Notification

On December 11, 2024, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) released the notification for CDS 1 2025. It provides candidates an opportunity to join the Indian Armed Forces through the Combined Defence Services (CDS) Examination. The CDS 1 2025 online application process began on December 11, 2024, and concluded on January 1, 2025 (6 PM). April 13, 2025 is the scheduled date for the CDS 1 2025 exam. The notification for CDS 2 2025 will be released on May 28, 2025, the deadline for the application process is open until June 17, 2025. CDS 2 exam scheduled to be conducted on September 14, 2025. CDS Notification 2025: Overview

CDS Notification 2025 :

The CDS 2025 notification has been released to recruit candidates for courses at the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Air Force Academy (AFA), Indian Naval Academy (INA), and Officers Training Academy (OTA) for both men and women.

• Selection Process: 
  • Stage 1: Written exam.
  • Stage 2: SSB Interview for shortlisted candidates.
• Final Selection: Based on performance in the written exam and SSB interview.
• Post-Training: Candidates join as Lieutenants after completing training at their respective academies.

How to Apply Online for CDS Exam ?

1. Register on the One Time Registration (OTR) page.
2. Fill in all required details on the registration page.
3. Upload necessary documents (if required).
4. Receive a Login ID on the registered email and mobile number.
5. Visit the Latest Exam section and click on the CDS 1 exam link.
6. Complete the application by providing all required details.

Application Fee:

• General and OBC (Male): ₹200.
• SC/ST candidates: Exempted.

Mode of Payment: Both online and offline.

Withdrawal Facility: Available post-registration.

CDS Eligibility Criteria 2025 :

Candidates must meet the specified nationality, age, and educational qualification requirements. Only candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria will be considered for recruitment.

Educational Qualifications :

• Indian Military Academy (IMA) and Officers Training Academy (OTA): Graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
• Indian Naval Academy (INA): Engineering degree from a recognized university.
• Air Force Academy (AFA): Engineering degree from a recognized university with Physics and Mathematics at the 10+2 level.

CDS 2025 Age Limit

To be eligible for the CDS 2025 exam, candidates must meet the following age criteria:

Minimum Age: 19 years.

Maximum Age: 25 years.

Academy-Wise Age Criteria:

• Indian Military Academy (IMA): 20 to 24 years (Born between 2 January 2002 and 1 January 2007).
• Indian Naval Academy (INA): 20 to 24 years (Born between 2 January 2002 and 1 January 2007).
• Air Force Academy (AFA): 20 to 24 years (Check specific dates in the notification).
• Officers Training Academy (OTA): 20 to 25 years (Check specific dates in the notification).

CDS 2025 Educational Qualification :

• Indian Military Academy (IMA) and Officers Training Academy (OTA):  A Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
• Indian Naval Academy (INA): An Engineering degree from a recognized university.
• Air Force Academy (AFA): A Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with Physics and Mathematics at the 10+2 level, or an Engineering degree.
• Final-year students or those who have completed their graduation are eligible to apply.

Check CDS 2025 Marital Status

• All male and female candidates applying for CDS must be unmarried.
• Female candidates applying for Short Service Commission (SSC) at OTA are eligible to apply, irrespective of marital status.

CDS 2025 Nationality :

Candidates must meet one of the following nationality requirements:

Indian Citizens: Eligible to apply.

Other Eligible Nationalities:

• A subject of Nepal.
• A person of Indian origin who has migrated from countries like Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, or Vietnam with the intention of settling permanently in India.
• Tibetan refugees who arrived in India before 1 January 1962 and intend to settle permanently.

CDS 2025 Exam Pattern

Candidates appearing for the CDS 2025 exam should understand the exam pattern. The key details are:

• Exam Shifts: Conducted in three shifts.
• Subjects: English, General Awareness, and Mathematics.

CDS 2025 Selection Process :

The CDS selection process evaluates candidates through multiple stages:

1. Written Examination: A multiple-choice test on:
   • English
   • General Knowledge
   • Elementary Mathematics (for IMA, INA, and AFA only).
2. Interview/Personality Test: Conducted by the Services Selection Board (SSB) to assess leadership qualities and personality traits.
3. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates must submit:
   • Educational certificates.
   • Proof of age.
4. Medical Examination: Conducted at a Military Hospital to determine physical fitness.
5. Final Merit List: Selection is based on written exam scores, SSB performance, and medical tests. Candidates are allotted seats in respective academies according to their rank.

CDS 2025 SSB Interview :

Candidates qualifying for the written exam will proceed to the SSB interview.

Timing: Conducted approximately one month after results.

CDS 2025 Marking Scheme :

• Correct Answer: +1 mark.
• Wrong Answer: -1/3 mark.
• More than One Option Chosen: -1/3 mark.
• Unanswered Question: No penalty (0 marks).
