For the Summer 2025 batch of the Digital India Internship Scheme, the National Informatics Centre (NIC) has now called for applications. To provide Indian students with actual work experience before they get their jobs this internship is designed. Students can work on real projects related to technology ecosystem  and digital governance in India.

National Informatics Centre (NIC) Digital India Internship Scheme 2025

• About the Internship:

  • The Digital India Internship Scheme for the Summer 2025 batch has announced applications under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

  • Under the guidance of qualified and experienced mentors, this internship is designed to provide Indian students with real-world work experience.

• Internship Duration:

  • The minimum duration is for 2 months

  • Based on performance and requirements, it can be extended for up to 3 months .

• Location:

  • At NIC Headquarters in New Delhi and various state centers across India, the internship will be conducted.

• Selection Process:

  • Based entirely on merit, a total of 20 students will be selected nationwide.

Areas of Work

• To work in various technical areas the internship offers opportunities such as: 

  • Blockchain Technology

  • Cloud Computing

  • Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning

  • Data Analytics

  • Cybersecurity

  • Mobile App Development

Eligibility Criteria :

• Academic Qualifications:

  • From a recognized Indian university, students pursuing BE /BTech, ME /MTech, MCA, or MSc – Computer Science or IT .

  • In their previous exams, applicants must have scored at least 60% .

  • Not eligible to apply if students are in their last semester or graduating in 2025.

Application Process and Required Documents

• Application Portal:

  • Students must apply online through the portal at dii.nic.in by 30th April 2025.

• Documents Required:

  • Institute’s recommendation letter.

  • Previous exam mark sheets and degree certificate.

  • A brief Statement of Purpose (100-250 words).

  • Selection of two areas of interest.

  • Verified formula for converting CGPA to percentage from the institution.

• Selection Process:

  • Selection is done by relevant departments, and online or personal interviews may be conducted if necessary.

Application Process for Digital India Internship 2025:

To apply for the Digital India Internship, follow the steps below :

1. Register as an Applicant

   • You need to first create an account if you are not already registered on the portal. Go to the official website designated for Digital India Internship and select the “Register” option. Including your name, email address, contact number, and other required information, provide all the necessary details.

   • You will receive a confirmation email, after successful registration. Once your account is activated, proceed to the next step.

2. Login to the Portal

   • Click on the Login button on the website, after registration.

   • Fill in your Email ID and Password that you have used during the registration process.

   • Displayed on the screen is the Captcha code and now enter it.

   • Click on the Login button to access your account, once all details are entered correctly.

3. Apply for Internship

   • You will see a top menu on the portal, once logged in. Search for the tab named “Apply for Internship” and click on it.

   • You will be directed to the application form where you need to fill in your details, such as your areas of interest, educational background and any other necessary information.

4. Fill in the Application Form

   • Completing your the application form  may include entering all required details accurately 

     • Personal Information like – Name, Contact Details, etc.

     • Academic Details like – Degree, University, Marks, etc.

     • Preferred Areas of Work like –  such as Blockchain, AI, Cybersecurity, etc.

     • Statement of Purpose (SOP)

     • As specified by the application form, any other information.

5. Preview and Proceed

   • Ensure that all the information you have entered is correct, after filling out the form.

   • To review your application before submission, you can click on the ‘Preview’ button.

   • Click on the ‘Proceed’ button to move forward with the application process once you are sure that all details are accurate and complete.

6. Submit Application

   • Submit the application by following any additional instructions on the portal after reviewing and confirming the details.

   • Once your application has been successfully submitted, you will receive a confirmation email or notification.

7. Application Confirmation

   • Via the portal, keep track of your application status. Regarding the selection process or any further steps required, you may also receive updates.

Eligibility Criteria: Digital India Internship 

1. Basic Qualification Requirements :

• An Indian student who is enrolled in a recognized university in India.

• In the most recent qualifying degree or certificate examination, should have secured at least 60% marks.

• Pursuing one of the following courses mentioned below :

  • B.E./B.Tech

  • M.E./M.Tech

  • MCA

  • M.Sc. (Electronics)

  • M.Sc. (Computer Science)

  • M.Sc. (Information Technology)

  • DOEACC ‘B’ level

2. Additional Considerations :

• Ffor the internship, fulfilling the minimum academic criteria does not guarantee selection.

• Preference is given to:

  • Candidates with experience in the area of the intended internship or relevant exposure.

  • Candidates who have a strong academic background.

  • Based on the requirement, those possessing higher qualifications.

Important Note :

• Students who will graduate in summer 2025 or are in their final semester are not eligible.

• considered eligible only if students who will continue their studies beyond summer 2025 are .

Duration of Internship

• The minimum internship period is 2 months.

• It may be extended up to 3 months based on:

  • The performance of the intern.

  • The requirements of the National Informatics Centre (NIC).

  • The availability and willingness of the intern to continue.

• The Summer Internship for 2025 will commence from 2nd June 2025.

Selection Process for Digital India Internship

Shortlisting and Allocation

• Within NIC based on their domain of interest and expertise, interns will be shortlisted and selected by the respective Groups or Divisions .

Interview Procedure

• If required, a personal interview or Skype interview may be conducted as part of the selection process.

• For attending the interview, no travel allowance (TA) or dearness allowance (DA) is provided.

Declaration and Authenticity

• Immediate rejection of the application or candidature will happen if submission of false or misleading information regarding academic qualifications, certificates, or marks.

Internship Placement and Supervision

Mentorship and Guidance

• From NIC to guide them throughout the internship, each intern or group of interns will be assigned a Scientific/Technical Project Supervisor or Mentor.
