The Maharashtra government launched the Magel Tyala Saur Krushi Pump Yojana (MTSKPY) to provide farmers with solar-powered pumps. It benefits farmers who have access to water for irrigation but lack power for pumps. Farmers can use sunshine to power these solar pumps during the day, eliminating their need for conventional energy. The program is significant because it promotes solar energy use in agriculture and lessens reliance on traditional power and fuel.
Why Is MTSKPY Significant?
The MTSKPY plan assists farmers by offering them a greener and healthier way to irrigate their crops. Since solar pumps run on sunshine, farmers don’t have to worry about power outages or expensive electricity bills. This is especially useful in areas without power for irrigation.
The plan lessens the strain on the regular power supply and eliminates the usage of environmentally harmful diesel pumps by using solar energy.

- Farmers can simply maintain solar pumps because they come with an insurance policy and a 5-year repair warranty.
- By replacing diesel pumps, these pumps help cut pollutants and improve the environmental impact of farming.

- The program encourages sustainable energy and lessens air pollution by swapping out diesel pumps.
