The Home Minister of India announced the allocation of Rs 5000 crore aimed at providing financial relief to approximately 10 crore people across the nation.

The Sahara Refund Portal is an initiative launched by Union Home Minister Amit Shah aimed at providing financial relief to individuals who have faced difficulties in withdrawing their money from the Sahara group. The portal serves as a secure platform for affected investors to submit their claims for reimbursement. Once registered on the portal, individuals can formally request payment from the investor, facilitating a streamlined process for refunds.

Investors in the Sahara can now access the funds they are owed by applying through the Sahara Refund Portal. Eligible applicants will also receive the “Rahat sum” that has designated for those affected by their investments. This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring that individuals receive due compensation for their financial contributions, fostering economic stability and confidence among the investing public. The refund process aims to straightforward, enabling users to navigate the portal with ease and receive their entitled amounts in a timely manner.

The mechanism of the portal involves the verification of claims submitted by individuals who have invested funds in the Sahara. Upon validation, the claims are processed, ensuring that those entitled to refunds receive their rightful amounts. This initiative is a significant step towards financial accountability and support for individuals who have experienced challenges in accessing their investments.

Eligibility for Sahara Refund:

  •  Through the CRCS Sahara Refund Portal, the following four Sahara Societies’ bona fide depositors are eligible for a refund:
    i. Kolkata-based Humara India Credit Cooperative Society Limited.
    ii. Lucknow’s Sahara Credit Cooperative Society Ltd.
    iii. Bhopal’s Saharayan Universal Multipurpose Society Ltd.
    iv. Stars Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited is located in Hyderabad.
  • In order to submit a claim request, the depositors must have made deposits and have unpaid balances due by the following dates:
    For: on March 22, 2022. i.Kolkata’s Humara India Credit Cooperative Society Limited ii. Lucknow’s Sahara Credit Cooperative Society Ltd. iii. Saharayan Universal Multipurpose Society Limited, Bhopal. 29th March 2023 for iv. Stars Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited, Hyderabad.

Requirement for the registration in Sahara Refund Portal:

The following should belong to the depositor:

  • Membership no.
  • Deposit Account No.
  • Aadhaar-linked mobile number (Required)
  •  Deposit certificates/passbook
  • PAN card (if the claim exceeds Rs. 50,000). It is required.

Sign up procedure on the CRCS Sahara Refund Portal:

Step 1: Registering as a Depositor: Go to the CRCS Sahara Refund Portal homepage and select “Depositor Registration.” On the registration page, precisely enter the information requested, such as the last four digits of your Aadhaar card and the cellphone number connected to it. Choose “Get OTP” and enter the acquired OTP. In order to finish the required registration process, click “Verify OTP”.

Step 2: Depositor Login: Go to the CRCS Sahara Refund Portal Homepage and select “Depositor Login”. On the Depositor Login Page, precisely enter your information, including the last four digits of your Aadhar card and the cellphone number connected to your Aadhar account. Choose “Get OTP” and enter the acquired OTP. Select “Verify OTP” to log in.

Process to Apply for Sahara Refund Portal:

  1. Enter the final four digits of your Aadhaar number.
  2. Type in a 10-digit mobile number connected to your Aadhaar.
  3. Type in the captcha code that appears.
  4. Choose “Get OTP” to receive an OTP on your Aadhaar-connected mobile device.
    After entering the OTP, click “Verify OTP”.
  5. Click the “I Agree” button after accepting the UIDAI terms and conditions.
  6. On the Personal Details page, click “Next” to access it.
  7. After entering your 12-digit Aadhaar number, click “Get OTP”.
  8. To finish your e-KYC, enter the six-digit OTP that you received on the cellphone number connected to your Aadhaar. Then, click the “Verify OTP” button. Personal details are retrieved from Aadhaar once the OTP has properly validated.
  9. After choosing “Get Bank Name” to get the Aadhaar-seed bank’s name, click “Next”.
  10. On the claim details page requires you to enter the required information before clicking “Add Claim.”
  11. The “Claim Details” grid below will display all of the information for you to see.
  12. Click “Next” to bring up the “Generate Forms” page.
  13. Create a Forms Page: After selecting “Generate Claim Request Form,” the document will begin to download.
  14. Select the “Download Form” option and then select “Next.”
  15. Ensure that the claim form and the photo correctly signed, and attach most recent photo.
  16. Document Upload Page: Upload the claim form and a copy of your PAN card to the “Upload Documents” option. (Note: If the claim amount is Rs. 50,000 or more, a PAN card required.)
  17. Click “Upload” once the Claim Application Form and Pan Copy have uploaded.
  18. Select “Ok, proceed” to send in your completed claim, or select “No, cancel” to go back and make any necessary updates. (Note: Once you click “Ok, proceed,” you cannot undo anything.)
    Click “Next” to move on to the “Acknowledgment & Receipt” page.
  19. To proceed to the “Acknowledgment & Receipt” page, click the “Next” button.

A thank-you page with the depositor’s name and the claim request number will appear. Please keep the Claim Request Number handy for future use.

Steps to check Sahara Refund status :

Depositor Login Procedure: To log in, use the same registration procedure. Currently processed
Once you log in, the status of your claim will read “Under Processing” if it hasn’t processed within 45 days or if it’s marked for payment.
Status: Once you log in, the status of your claim will read “Payment-Succeeded” if your claim payment has received.
